A LARGE GILT BRONZE GOTHIC HEXAGONAL HALL LANTERN 19TH CENTURY With a six light hanging fixture, surmounted by a glass smoke cowl, wired for electricity 120cm high, 69cm diameter There are many eighteenth-century precedents for this type of Gothic lantern for example Mayhew and Ince's 1762 Universal System of Household Furniture, pl. V. A lantern similar to this example has been recorded on the staircase landing of the Minstrel's gallery at Longleat.
