Y A GEORGE IV ROSEWOOD, PARCEL GILT AND SPECIMEN MARBLE CENTRE TABLE ATTRIBUTED TO MOREL & SEDDON, CIRCA 1830 The inset specimen marble panel with a central pietra dura tablet of a parrot perched within a tree 74cm high, 99cm wide, 58cm deep This library table relates closely to the documented work of Royal cabinet makers Morel & Seddon who supplied furniture to George IV for a sitting room and four bedrooms in the South Apartments of Windsor Castle. The use of exotic timbers, with finely executed marquetry (often in the manner of the Wilkinson tracings) and parcel gilt decoration were all trademarks of the cabinet maker's partnership; the present lot displays all of these attributes.
