A GEORGE IV MAHOGANY CHEST OF DRAWERS BY GILLOWS, CIRCA 1830 The top central drawer bearing a pencil inscription for Thomas Whiteside Bearing a Factory stamp to the bottom board 110cm high, 119cm wide, 57cm deep There are two Thomas Whitesides listed as journeyman by Susan Stuart (see Gillows of Lancaster and London 1730 - 1840, Volume II, Woodbridge, 2008, p.297). The first Thomas was born in 1802, the nephew of Edward Whiteside, cabinet maker of Oxford Street and was apprenticed, aged fourteen, to L. Redmayne on 5th August 1816, the other was the son of Thomas of Thurnham, near Lancaster and also apprenticed to L. Redmayne on 21st June 1819. Condition Report Disclaimer
