High-relief bust of a young lady facing right, her curly hair neatly pulled back to a chignon at the nape of her neck, jewelled diadem resting on top of the head; mounted in an unmarked high-carat gold brooch setting dating to the 19th century. Cf. similar 16th-century cameos, in the Royal Collection Trust, inventory nos. RCIN 65854 and RCIN 65859; see also ‘The Marlborough Gems: Formerly at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire’, pp. 252-253, figs. 586 and 588. 9.59 grams, 30 mm (1 1/8 in.).
