拍品描述

20th century A.D. Comprising two hollowed-out cut horns with an opening at the narrow end. 165 grams total, cow horns: 16-22.5 cm (6 1/4 - 8 7/8 in.). [2, No Reserve] Collected near Mashaba, east of Pomeroy, in the Msinga district of Zululand. Ian Wilkinson collection, Nottinghamshire, UK, formed since 1985. The Zulus pay a great deal of attention to intestinal medicine, purging themselves of impurities on a regular basis. These horn tips would have been used to introduce emetics via the rectum to purify them. TimeLine Auctions follows a rigorous vetting process to ensure the authenticity and legality of all items, reinforcing our commitment to integrity and responsible trading. Each antiquity, antique, and coin lot undergoes thorough examination by a vetting committee of at least ten external specialists, professional trade association members, scientists, and archaeologists.
