Circa 29th March 1879 A.D. A rare battlefield artefact, being the trigger assembly from a destroyed Zulu musket rifle, with loop for the carrying sling. 145 grams, 19.2 cm (7 1/2 in.). [No Reserve] Found by Zulu natives living at Khambula, South Africa, 1990s-early 2000s. Ian Wilkinson collection, Nottinghamshire, UK, formed since 1985. The battle resulted in a heavy defeat for the Zulus, who had been full of confidence from their earlier victories against the British at Isandlwana and Hlobane.
