Avinash Chandra (Indian 1931-1991), Untitled Composition, Signed lower right to reverse dated lower left "10th July '60" and signed lower right with remains of Molton gallery label, mounted, glazed and framed 62.5 x 34.6cm. (unframed) Provenance: The Private Collection of William and Mildred Archer Molton Gallery at 44 South Molton Street held a solo exhibition of Avinash Chandra's work from Sept 7 - October 1st 1960. The exhibition catalogue details 30 oil on canvas works and a reference to 6 gouaches. The gallery specialized in “Twentieth Century Paintings and Sculpture” by artists such as Gillian Ayres, Anthea Alley, and Denis Bowen. It was a gallery with which Avinash Chandra had a particular association, having solo exhibitions there in 1960 and 1962, Molton Gallery was also a collaborative partner for Chandra’s exhibition at Galerie de l’Universite, Paris, in 1961.
