A Shahnameh, Possibly Kashmir, North India, dated Safar 1308 AH and September 1890 CE, Persian manuscript on paper, 424ff., 2fl., 27ll. of black nasta'liq arranged in four columns ruled in gold and black to the page, each text panel within thin gold margins ruled in black and blue, wider plain borders double ruled in black, chapter heading in red nasta'liq within plain rectangular panel, the opening folio with an elegant illuminated lobed cupola outlined in orange and with two trefoils finials, gold scrolling floral tendril against blue or plain field above a rectangular panel with lobed cartouche outline in orange inscribed with the bismillah in red ink against gold field, the whole within thin floral margins, occasional annotations in loose nasta'liq script to the margins, loose folios, some possibly lacking, binding lacking, modern tape to spine, 37.5 x 22.5cm.
