Krishna steals the garments of the gopis swimming in the Yamuna river, Punjab Hills, late-19th/early 20th century, Opaque pigments heightened with gold on paper, on the river bank besides a shrine, cowherds in the background, the borders with a gold scrolling leaved tendril bearing repeating white flowers, double ruled in red, wide light pink margins, the reverse plain with some older evidence of glue, mounted, the mount pencilled 2A, its reverse with modern labels, 25.5 x 18.5cm. Provenance: Private London collection formed in the 1950-60s and thence by descent
