A fragmentary sandstone head, India, Gupta period, circa 4th century, with bulging almond eyes under pronounced arched brows, straight nose, full lips and cheeks, curled hair, the ears pierced and with large ornaments, on wooden stand, 7.5cm. high, 15 cm. high on stand Provenance: Property from the private collection of John Acton (1932-2017) acquired in India in the 1960s
