A tantric painting of intertwined horses, Rajasthan, India, 18th century Gouache on card, 17.7 x 13.7cm Provenance: Property from the private collection of John Acton (1932-2017) acquired in India in the 1960s Interlaced horses can be seen in the Safavid period, for example a drawing of four horses interlaced is in the Museum of Fine Arts Boston accession no. 14.629.
