A rectangular lacquered papier-mache mirror case, Qajar Iran, late 19th/early 20th century, The front and back with scenes of a Persian epic or poem, the edges with an intricate swaying tendril bearing serrated leaves and blooms, the cover's reverse with a bold central medallion consisting of floral quatrefoil amidst leaved tendrils a floral sprigs, the four corners with similar decoration, the whole within double gold rules, 37 x 24.2cm.
