A Qajar qur'an copied for Muhammad Zaki Khani-i Nuri, signed by Ibn Abu Al-Qasim 'Abd Al-Jawad Al-Nayrizi, Persia, dated Safar 1227AH/February-March 1812AD Arabic manuscript on paper, 212 leaves, 19 lines to the page written in naskhi in black ink, gold roundels with blue and red dots marking the verse-endings, inner margins ruled in colours and gold, illuminated marginal devices, one illuminated frontispiece in colours and gold, margins of the two subsequent leaves decorated with floral motifs in colours and gold, the frontispiece preceded by two further illuminated double-pages, one double-page illuminated finispiece, sura headings in gold on a blue ground within illuminated panels, last page with a prayer to the Twelve Imams and believers, 19th Century stamped leather binding 21 x 13.5 cm. Provenance: Offered Christies 20 October 2016, lot 77 The patron Muhammad Zaki Khan Nuri is recorded as a renowned minister of Kerman under the governorship of Shuja' al-Saltanah, son of Fath 'Ali Shah. The only reference to the scribe Abi'l-Qasim bin 'Abd al-Jawad al-Nayrizi is his recorded work, the Sahifah Sajjadiyyah, copied in excellent naskhi, dated AH 1224/AD 1809.
