A selection of passages from the Qur’an, beginning with Surah al-‘Anam, Ottoman Empire, circa 1600 Arabic manuscript on paper, some folios bearing incomplete watermarks, 62ff. as foliated, 5fl., 8ll. of black naskh interspersed by three lines of assertive black thuluth in double black rules, the naskh framed by columns of swaying tendrils bearing orange, blue and yellow simplified flowers, the panel margined in gold and orange ruled in blue and gold, plain borders, marginal blue, orange and gold medallions, some pages and, possibly, the last quire, repaired and restored, likely during the Qajar era, light brown verging on deep burgundy leather binding, with central cut mandorla, swaying acanthus leaves above and below, the whole bordered with a simplified strapwork within gold rules, replacement folios 16.5 x 11.6cm., folio 16.4 x 11.4cm.
