A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE JAPANESE SATSUMA KORO AND COVER BY KYUZAN the square shield shaped earthenware body rising from four cloud-shaped feet to an angled shoulder set with a pair of handles, finely enamelled and gilt to each face with figures in landscapes, the shoulder with floret panels enclosing butterflies and antiques on a mille-fleur ground, the domed cover similarly painted with panels and surmounted by a gilt chrysanthemum shaped finial, 33.5cm high
