A Qur'an, Indonesia or Malaysia, circa 1850, Surah al-Fatiha to surah Maryam, Arabic manuscript on European paper, incomplete at end, watermarked with a Lion Rampant within a crowned medallion, or watermarked V. G, each probably Dutch, 187ff., 4fl., 15ll. of bold black naskh script to the page, the illuminated opening bifolio with 7ll. of naskh below gold sura titles against red below an intricate yellow leaved strapwork within a lobed pointed arch with palmette and trefoil finials, the text verses marked with gold roundels, following sura headings in red within plain rectangular cartouches and plain red circle verse markers, gold floral textfoil against red juz' markers, simplified leaved tendril above and below, half sections marked in naskh in the margins, multiple watermarks, the front and back boards with four palmettes within large lobed quatrefoils bordered by continuous lozenges margined in thick plain borders, light damage to spine, 29 x 20.4cm.
