A selection from the Qur'an and prayers, Qajar Iran, circa 1850, Arabic manuscript on paper, interlinear translation in Persian, 228ff., 6fl., 7ll. of black naskh script to the page, opening with sura 36, 48, 56, 67 and 78, the opening folio with five line of script under a sura heading in red below an illuminated headboard composed of gold scrolling tendrils issuing from floral palmettes below cusped cupolas with trefoil finials, multiple sections with intricately illuminated opening folios, the now detached lacquered papier-mâché boards with elegant floral decoration, each inside with a large spray rising between floral spandrels, each outside with large blooms against a profuse floral field, Folio 12.8 x 8.4cm., 13.5 x 8.5cm.
