An Ottoman Qur'an signed ‘Umar bin Yusuf al-Tilawati, Ottoman Turkey, dated Jumada II 984 AH / September 1576 AD, Arabic manuscript on paper, 325ff., with two replaced flyleaves, with 13ll. of black naskh script to the page within thin gold borders ruled in black, gold roundels verse markers outlined in black and picked in blue, text subdivision noted in gold ink to the margins, the opening bifolio's text panels with 5ll. of script flanked by lobed cartouches containing swaying gold tendrils, rectangular panels with inscribed gold lobed medallions amidst elegant gold tendrils against a blue field above and below, gold lobed cupola outlined in blue with flowers and tendril above, below and to fore edge side, in a restored gilt Ottoman binding with lobed mandorla, palmettes above and below, floral spandrels, the flap with small palmettes between two narrow spandrels, folio 12 x 7.9cm., 12 x 8.8cm.
