A CHINESE IMPERIALLY INSCRIBED JADE MOUNTAIN, QING DYNASTY well carved with figures standing and seated beneath jagged overhanging rocks and old gnarled pine trees viewing a waterfall, all below a Qianlong four-line poetic inscription, 'Ode to Wen Zhenming's Waterfall Viewing Painting', the stone of very pale celadon tone, wood stand, the jade 21cm high Provenance: Acquired from William Clayton Limited, 38 Bury Street, St. James's, London, SW1. Property from an Italian Noble Family. Footnote: The poem may be translated as: Those who stand here leaning on a staff, or those that sit, all seek the shade of the pines, each finding their own pleasure, sharing the same feeling, listening to the spring water with one heart.
