A Roman marble portrait head of a man, Neronian circa 1st AD Recut, with curly hair and beard, restored nose, on stand 17.5cm. high (without stand); with stand 31cm. high Provenance: Collection of Dr. Elisabeth Doppler (d. 1965), Florham Park, New Jersey, thence by descent. Dr Doppler was born in Switzerland and before World War I she participated in archaeological digs in Egypt, Mesopotamia, Persia, and Greece; Inherited by her niece, Massachusetts, USA
