A miscellaneous group of antiquities, including a Roman pottery beaker with everted rim and flat base, 7.8cm high, with a 19th Century ink inscribed label, the beaker containing miscellaneous modern era wood beads; a slender damaged Roman pottery beaker tapering to the base, with everted rim, 11.9cm high, with a 19th Century ink inscribed label; a Roman clear glass pear-shaped unguentarium, 8.2cm high, a 19th Century ink inscribed label attached by string around the neck; a damaged Roman deep blue glass unguentarium with pear-shaped body, 10.8cm high, with a 19th Century ink illegible inscribed label on the underside of the base, circa 1st-2nd Century A.D., a flat biconical amber bead, 3.6cm diam, possibly Etruscan circa 6th Century B.C.; a Medieval bronze hanging oil lamp, with 19th Century ink inscribed label erroneously suggesting a Roman date; and three other pottery items, not ancient (9) Provenance: Acquired by Major General Octavius Douglas-Hamilton 1821-1904, thence by descent.
