Dimensions: Width: 35.8 cm, Height: 16.3 cm Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue and White Porcelain Washing Pot. Potted with a shallow body, slight deep, flaring round rim, globular heavy on mid body, raised on flat foot base. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in white base color which contrast against blue color depicted of The Carp Similar sounding to the word Business in Chinese, the carp symbolizes a wish for benefit or advantage in business, and accepted to represent longevity, wealth, abundance, and perseverance. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark grayfish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim.
