Dimensions: 13" Diameter. A Large Underglaze-Blue and Iron-Red ?Dragon and Waves? ChargerBoldly decorated in vivid underglaze cobalt and iron-red, the charger displays a dramatic composition of striding five-clawed dragons writhing among powerful, cresting waves. The central medallion features a vigorously rendered dragon in pursuit of the flaming pearl, its sinuous body surrounded by turbulent foaming seas. The wide cavetto continues the maritime theme with additional dragons sweeping around the rim, their bodies integrated rhythmically with the swirling wave patterns.The iron-red enamel is richly applied, lending strong contrast against the deep cobalt ground. The carving and brushwork exhibit expressive energy, with stylized waves executed in tight, rhythmic strokes. The underside is left unmarked, revealing a broad unglazed foot with characteristic kiln scars, firing grit, and concentric tool marks.A visually powerful piece, the charger revives the spirit of late Ming and Qing maritime dragon decor, produced here on an impressive scale.
