Dimensions: Width: 47 cm x Heigth: 7 cm Superb and Rare Chinese Ming Dynasty Copper Red Decorated Barbed Rim DishA magnificent and rare Chinese Ming Dynasty copper-red decorated porcelain dish, gracefully potted with a deep well and a finely articulated barbed rim. The interior is richly painted in vibrant iron-red underglaze with dense scrolling peony and chrysanthemum blooms, rendered in continuous interlacing vines symbolizing prosperity, honor, and longevity.At the center sits a medallion enclosing a tight lotus scroll, followed by two additional concentric floral bands leading to the cavetto. The painterly execution shows exceptional control in the notoriously difficult copper-red pigment, achieving even tonality and strong saturation without bleeding a hallmark of upper kiln quality Ming production.The rim is framed with a rhythmic band of trefoils and floral cartouches, enhancing the refined silhouette of the scalloped edge. The exterior continues the floral theme with larger scrolling blooms echoing the interior design.The underside displays an unglazed biscuit foot with natural kiln firing caramel tones and characteristic speckling, consistent with Ming dynasty kiln conditions. The recessed base retains its original firing patina.
