PROVENANCE: The private collection of Earl Sorensen, based in Atlanta, Georgia, represents decades of dedicated collecting in the fields of Buddhist art and Chinese jade. An international businessman who frequently traveled throughout Asia during the 1960s, Sorensen developed a deep appreciation for Eastern art and culture through his extensive business activities.During a business trip to western China, he was presented with a Buddha statue by a local monk. This meaningful gift sparked a lifelong passion for Buddhist artifacts, Chinese jades, and other works reflecting the rich artistic and spiritual traditions of Asia. Dimensions: 17.8cm L x 17.8cm W x 43.7cm H Chinese Qing Dynasty Qianlong Blue and White Landscape Porcelain Square Vase. Potted in Cong shape vase, thick and tall, squared cylindrical body, with short circle opening mouth and foot base, raised on round shallow foot. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in white base colour which contrast against blue colour, depicted of sampan boat sailing over peace lishui river surround with tree, flowers bloom, rocky rock and mountain, all in salubrious landscape. Mountain is one of the eight trigrams in Feng Shui and Yi Jing. Of these Taishan is considered the most important and stones from the mountain were often placed in towns across China as a lucky charm.The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark. Made in The Years QianLong Reign Period of The Great Qing Dynasty.
