An international businessman who frequently traveled throughout Asia during the 1960s, Sorensen developed a deep appreciation for Eastern art and culture through his extensive business activities.During a business trip to western China, he was presented with a Buddha statue by a local monk. Dimensions: 25cm L x 25cm W x 46.8cm H Pair of Chinese Qing Dynasty QianLong Blue and White Lotus Porcelain Six Square Vases. Potted in a large shaped vase, large, thick and tall, globular hexagonal body, heavy on rounded shoulder concealing gracefully to a prominent cylindrical hexagonal neck, with flaring mouth rim, raised with short splayed foot base rim and slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in white base colour which contrast against blue colour, depicted of abundant lotus flowers blooms interspersed foliage and scrolling interlocking tendril. Lotus is one of the most significant flowers in the Chinese culture. It symbolizes the holy seat of Buddha. Because the flower rises from the mud and blooms in exquisite beauty it symbolizes perfection and purity of both the heart and mind.The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark. Made in The Years QianLong Reign Period of The Great Qing Dynasty.
