A CHINESE ALLOY COPPER JAMBHALA STATUE

Measuring 39 cm in height and 28 cm in width, this finely cast alloy copper sculpture depicts seated Yellow Jambhala, the revered Buddhist deity of prosperity. The deity boasts characteristic rounded facial features and a full rounded torso, adorned with an ornate gem-set crown, layered necklaces, armbands and a waist ornament embedded with tiny coloured inlays. He adopts the relaxed lalitasana pose upon a detailed double lotus pedestal, one foot resting on an auxiliary lotus plinth while his hands hold traditional symbolic attributes. Deep warm aged patina coats the smooth metallic surface, highlighting exquisite carving on lotus petals and jewellery details. An exemplary work of Tibetan religious craftsmanship, it will make a commanding focal piece for premium Buddhist statuary collections.
