Dimensions: 14"H x 10.5"W Chinese Qing Dynasty Qianlong Emperor Reign period Dragon porcelain moon vase on carved hardwood stand. Thick potted vase of tapered compressed globular body, tapered gracefully toward narrow spherical neck gently wider and bulbous under the rim, supported on a concave splayed foot oval base. Two scrolling Lingzhi shaped ribbon handles flanked from shoulder to the upper neck rim. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in imperial yellow underglaze base color which contrast against the famille rose design color. The main body delicately be depicted with several snarling huge five claws imperial dragon careening through cumulus clouds above thrashing Li-Shui waves in a dark brown color dragon squama rounded the vase. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity, the Li-Shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. Repeating Taotie mask decorated on the upper mouth rim enclosed with double blue ring decorated on the Neck. The foot base rim decorated with repeated key fret and wavy cresting Lishui water. The Lines of the drawings are clear, the light and dark shades are subtle. The colors are harmonious, elegant and exquisite, the composition is sophisticated, simply a feast for the eye. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned. The moon vase elegantly displayed upon a carved hardwood stand. The Under-base bears reign mark, a six underglaze blue seal script characters reign mark, Made In The Years of Qianlong Reign Period of The Great Qing Dynasty.
