Measurements: (EACH) 205cm x 80cm. Pair Of Chinese Qing Dynasty Dragon Blue Wooven Rugs. A matching pair of finely handwoven Tibetan carpet panels, each depicting a powerful five-clawed imperial dragon emerging against a deep indigo field. The dragons are rendered in vibrant shades of gold, orange, blue, green, and ivory, with animated expressions, flowing whiskers, and gracefully undulating bodies. Above each dragon hangs a series of Buddhist ritual emblems and auspicious offerings, while stylized cloud scrolls and geometric borders frame the composition below.The dynamic dragon motif symbolizes imperial authority, strength, and heavenly protection in Chinese tradition, while the suspended ritual objects reflect the strong influence of Tibetan Buddhist iconography. Such narrow carpet panels were often woven for use as architectural hangings, temple decorations, or decorative side panels within palaces and monasteries, where they formed part of a larger ceremonial interior.The rich natural color palette, bold composition, and dense wool pile exemplify the distinctive weaving tradition of Tibet created for the Qing imperial and monastic markets.Probably Tibet or Inner Mongolia for the Qing court, late Qing dynasty to early 20th century.
