Masterfully carved from solid huanghuali hardwood with a rich warm reddish-brown patina, this four-armed Guanyin sits in full lotus posture upon a double lotus pedestal lined with fine bead borders. The deity?s central hands press together in anjali mudra, while the outer two hands form symbolic mudras. Elaborate floral tiara, layered beaded necklaces and flowing scarves are all sharply detailed with precise relief carving. Soft facial features convey serene compassion, balanced by proportionate, dignified body lines. A sacred wooden sculpture of outstanding craftsmanship for Buddhist art and hardwood collectibles.
