This opulent tripod censer rests upon an elaborately tiered gilt silver base densely encrusted with multihued gemstones. Its bulbous main body bears intricately laid turquoise geometric tessellation set against polished gilded framing. Two upright handles, three sculpted feet, and the domed lid are lavishly studded with turquoise, rubies and complementary coloured gems, while a smooth pale jade knob crowns the lid apex. Fine inscribed detailing decorates the upper rim of the vessel. Measuring 18 cm in length, 18 cm in width and 28 cm in height, the substantial piece weighs 5130 g. Meticulous metalwork, lavish gem inlay and layered decorative tiers together render this censer a luxurious museum-grade example of sophisticated Chinese ornamental metal craftsmanship.
