A POLYCHROME ENAMELED DOUCAI PORCELAIN ‘EIGHT BUDDHIST EMBLEMS’ DISH, LATE QING DYNASTY TO REPUBLIC PERIOD China, late 19th to early 20th century. Thinly potted, with shallow, gently rounded sides supported on a slightly tapered foot. The surface is finely painted in underglaze cobalt blue beneath a clear, transparent glaze, and further enriched with polychrome overglaze enamels, presenting on the interior a central medallion enclosing stylized lotus blossoms surrounded by foliate motifs. Framed by multiple double-line borders, the cavetto is decorated with the Eight Buddhist Emblems interspersed with blossoming flowers and swirling garlands, while the exterior is further embellished with additional floral heads set amid a dense network of scrolling tendrils and leafy stems, and is framed below by a ruyi-head band encircling the foot. The underside bearing an apocryphal six-character mark in underglaze cobalt-blue reading Da Qing Guangxu Nian Zhi [made during the reign of Guangxu of the Great Qing dynasty].
