A GUAN-TYPE CRACKLED CELADON-GLAZED GU-SHAPED VASE, QING DYNASTY China, 18th-19th century. Finely modeled, inspired by archaic bronze vessels traditionally known as ‘gu’, the slender body, gently waisted and subtly faceted, distinguished by a bulbous mid-section, rising from a spreading foot to an everted rim resulting in a wide, trumpet-shaped mouth. The surface entirely covered in a pristine pale celadon glaze, enlivened by a dense crackle pattern in soft russet tones, except for the foot rim, left unglazed to reveal the dark brown body of the ceramic beneath.
