A LARGE UNDERGLAZE COBALT-BLUE- AND COPPER-RED-GLAZED PORCELAIN ‘BLOSSOMING LOTUS’ VASE, QING DYNASTY TO REPUBLIC PERIOD China, 19th-20th century. Finely potted, the globular body supported on a short, splayed foot, with gently sloping shoulders rising to a waisted neck and an everted rim. The exterior finely painted in dark cobalt blue and copper-red tones over a clear, transparent glaze, depicting multiple chrysanthemum blossoms set within a dense arrangement of scrolling tendrils and leafy stems. The composition is framed below by a lobed diaper-pattern encircling the foot, and above by successive bands of ruyi motifs, a key-fret pattern, and pointed leaves of alternating sizes around the neck. Dimensions: Height 31.8 cm
