A FINE PAIR OF SANCAI-GLAZED BISCUIT PORCELAIN FIGURES OF BUDDHIST LIONS, QING DYNASTY China, 1644-1912. The figures modeled as a male and female Buddhist lion, one with a young, the other with a reticulated brocade ball, seated on rectangular plinths glazed in an iridescent green. Each lion with open mouth revealing sharp teeth and fangs, curly tufts of hair, and a collar suspending bells and tassels. The figures enriched in amber, green, and aubergine glazes.
