A SMALL ENAMELED ‘COURT LADIES’ SNUFF BOTTLE China, Republic period (1912-1949) or later. Of flattened globular form, supported on a narrow oval foot and rising to a tall cylindrical neck. Finely enameled to the exterior with a deep cobalt-blue ground, decorated with stylized floral scrolls and foliate motifs. Each side set with a circular reserve depicting elegant court ladies, one side showing them in a garden setting, the other displaying them in a boat among lotus blossoms. Stopper: Matching enameled stopper, carved spoon Dimensions: Height 53 mm (incl. stopper), Diameter 14 mm (neck) and 7 mm (mouth)
