Ɏ A CANTON SCHOOL IVORY ‘GARDEN PALACE’ SNUFF BOTTLE, c. 1920 China, late Qing Dynasty to Republic Period (1850-1949). Of flattened oval form, rising from a short oval foot to a cylindrical neck, surmounted by a domed stopper with a finial knop. The body carved in relief depicting court ladies and attendants beside a pavilion terrace, surrounded by pine and plantain trees, framed by pierced rockwork and flowering shrubs. The shoulders and lower body with overlapping lappet borders. Stopper: Matching ivory stopper, carved spoon Dimensions: Height 75 mm (incl. stopper), Diameter 15 mm (neck) and 7 mm (mouth) Trade Certificate: The trade certificate for the sale of this lot within the EU has been granted (permit number 24PTLX02492C).
