Ɏ AN IVORY ‘BUDDHIST LION’ SNUFF BOTTLE, c. 1920 China, late Qing Dynasty to Republic Period (1850-1949). The body carved in the form of a Buddhist lion, standing foursquare with bulging eyes, a fierce expression, a long-tasseled beard, and detailed with stylized scrollwork and a curled tail along the sides. The ivory with a nice patina and of a warm honey color.
