Ɏ AN IVORY ‘HORSE AMIDST BAMBOO’ SNUFF BOTTLE, c. 1920 China, late Qing Dynasty to Republic Period (1850-1949). The flattened rectangular body with rounded shoulders, rising from a recessed oval foot to a cylindrical neck and surmounted by a domed stopper. The ivory exterior painted in red and black ink, depicting a horse standing beside bamboo and rockwork with an inscription and a seal, the reverse inscribed with a poem.
