Ɏ A BUFFALO HORN DOUBLE-GOURD SNUFF BOTTLE China, Republic period (1912-1949) or later. Of double-gourd form, surmounted by a matching horn stopper in the form of a natural stem. One side inset with an oval ivory-toned bone panel depicting a scholar beneath a pine tree in a mountainous landscape, accompanied by an inscription and red seal, and further decorated with a geometric emblem. The reverse incised with the auspicious characters translating to “longevity and long life”. The polished horn with attractive grey, brown, and black tones.
