A FINE AVENTURINE GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE, REPUBLIC PERIOD China, 1912-1949. Finely hollowed, the flattened body, of rounded rectangular form, resting on a short oval foot, with gently sloping shoulders rising to a cylindrical neck with a narrow mouth and a flat rim. Each side of the bottle incised with a highly abstracted mythical creature mask, rendered with a fierce expression. The superbly polished, opaque material of a reddish-brown tone, sprinkled with minute glittering speckles. Stopper: Aventurine glass stopper, copper spoon Dimensions: Height 68 mm (incl. stopper), Diameter 20 mm (neck) and 6 mm (mouth)
