AN EXQUISITE TIGER EYE SNUFF BOTTLE, LATE QING DYNASTY TO REPUBLIC PERIOD China, late 19th to early 20th century. Finely hollowed, the flattened baluster body supported on a short oval foot, rising through high-angled shoulders to a slightly waisted neck with a narrow mouth and a flat rim. The magnificently polished, opaque stone of a rich dark brown tone, suffused with delicate ochre veining and fine speckling, which produce graceful reflections when struck by light.
