A CAMEO CARNELIAN ‘PLAYFUL YOUTH ON ROCKS’ SNUFF BOTTLE, REPUBLIC PERIOD China, 1912-1949. The flattened ovoid body supported on an oval foot, with sloped shoulders rising to a short neck and a narrow mouth with slightly concave rim. The exterior carved in high relief on one side, depicting a youthful figure clad in voluminous robes, standing on a rocky outcrop at the foot of a lush pine tree, beside a stalk of millet and an auspicious lingzhi fungus. The finely polished, translucent stone of a warm orange-red tone with honey-amber shading.
