A CAMEO AGATE ‘BIRDS AMID LOTUS AND LINGZHI’ SNUFF BOTTLE, REPUBLIC PERIOD China, 1912-1949. Skillfully hollowed, the flattened globular body supported on a short oval foot, with gently sloping shoulders rising to a cylindrical neck with a circular mouth and a subtly concave rim. The exterior carved in high relief on one side, depicting a duck swimming among rippling waters, accompanied by a further bird perched on a foliate branch beside a large lotus leaf and a rising lingzhi fungus. The finely polished, translucent stone of an icy white tone, suffused with attractive russet inclusions in variegated shades.
