A FINE SHADOW AGATE SNUFF BOTTLE, REPUBLIC PERIOD China, 1912-1949. Finely hollowed, the flattened globular body rising from a flat oval base to a cylindrical neck with a circular mouth and a slightly concave rim. The superbly polished, translucent stone of a warm caramel-brown hue with darker veining, and reddish-brown and black inclusions forming striking natural patterns on one face of the bottle. Stopper: Agate stopper, carved spoon Dimensions: Height 61 mm (incl. stopper), Diameter 16 mm (neck) and 6 mm (mouth)
