AN AGATE ‘FARMER AND HORSE’ SNUFF BOTTLE, QING DYNASTY China, 1644-1912 or slightly later. Well hollowed, of rounded square form, rising from a short, oval foot to a cylindrical neck with concave lip. The translucent stone of a creamy pale gray color with shadings of amber and opaque white inclusions, the latter cleverly utilized to depict a farmer settling his horse. Dimensions: Height 55 mm. Diameter neck 24 mm and mouth 7.5 mm
