A CARVED AMETHYST ‘PHEASANTS AMID LINGZHI’ SNUFF BOTTLE, REPUBLIC PERIOD China, 1912-1949. Finely hollowed, the flattened globular body supported on an oval foot and rising to a short neck and a narrow mouth with a flat rim. The exterior skillfully carved in high relief on either side with a pair of pheasants standing atop a rocky outcrop amidst scrolling stems terminating in lingzhi fungus. The neatly polished, translucent stone of an attractive interplay of icy white and purple tones, suffused with light brown inclusions and occasional dark mottling.
