A PALE CELADON JADE SNUFF BOTTLE IN THE FORM OF A TORTOISE, c. 1920s China, late Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) - Republic Period (1912-1949). The flattened oval body shaped like a tortoise, with meticulously incised details portraying the shell of the animal and its limbs remain tucked close to the body. The translucent pale celadon jade of soft, milky tones with subtle brown patches. Stopper: Green hardstone stopper, metal spoon Dimensions: Height 58 mm (incl. stopper), Diameter 16 mm (neck) and 8 mm (mouth)
