AN ARCHAISTIC PALE CELADON AND RUSSET JADE BIRD PENDANT China, Republic period (1912-1949) or earlier. Carved as a stylized bird with a compact body, short tail, and rounded head. The semi-translucent jade displays attractive pale celadon tones with warm russet inclusions and skin. Two drilled suspension holes for usage as a pendant. Inspired by Hongshan jade carvings, the simplified form reflects the enduring appreciation for archaic prototypes in later Chinese jade craftsmanship. Dimensions: Length 3.8 cm
