AN ARCHAISTIC JADE 'DRAGON' PENDANT, HUANG, c. 1920s China, late Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) - Republic Period (1912-1949). Of arched form, the pendant finely carved in openwork with two confronting dragons, flanking a central taotie mask. The body is carved with comma-spirals (guwen) in relief and surmounted by a small suspension loop. The semi-translucent stone is of a pale celadon-white tone with cloudy inclusions and russet-brown skin. Dimensions: Length 10.2 cm
